How the Fire Sprinkler is Designed to Detect Fire

It’s pretty safe to assume that most people are familiar with a fire sprinkler, but how does it work? In this article, we are going to look at how the fire sprinkler design allows it to detect fire.

In a fire sprinkler there is a small tube that is filled with a liquid. The liquid inside of the tube expands when it is heated, and eventually, if it gets hot enough, it will break the glass allowing water to flow.

It’s important to note that different facilities might have different maximum temperatures that the fire sprinkler can handle before the tub bursts. The sprinklers in a school might be different than the ones in a factory in this regard.

A red tube breaks the easiest out of all the different kinds and is the most common. A black tube can handle the most heat and this is the type of tube that we would see in a factory.

Once the tube bursts and the water starts flowing, the circular sprinkler piece with divots around it, is designed to push the water in every different direction. In doing this the sprinkler can contain a wider area, which is how the sprinkler system works together to protect an entire room.
